Cirrus 3 Months Old (May 12-31)

May 16, 2013
Cirrus celebrated his 3 month birthday on May 16th.  He is transitioning from life as a newborn to life as a baby!  He can focus on much more of the world around him, reaches for things, and is full of smiles and cheerful spirits.

May was spent gardening.  Well, much (most!) of each day is spent getting everyone dressed, fed, cleaned up, dressed again, fed again... But, somehow, we do manage to get outside!

Senja turns the soil in our community Children's Garden.  It's possible the broad fork may be a little too big for her, but she is eager these days to use real tools and to do things by herself.
Cadel puts his dump truck to work to bring mulch to our sunflower seedlings.

Cadel and Senja ensure the mulch is spread properly.
We took a trip to Tuckaway (the Cox family farm) and got to see the latest addition.  The newest calf is closely watched by the cows and the cousins!

Cirrus continues to be thrilled to get attention from his siblings.

Cirrus Week 12 (May 5 - 11)

The highlight of our week was Justin successfully running the 21.5 mile Wapack Trail race and Stacey, Cadel, Senja, and Cirrus successfully cheering him on along the way.  Justin accomplished his feat on his own (though pre- and post-race banter with fellow racers and friends Brian and Andy surely helped), Stacey was only successful thanks to the help of two dear friends, Mariah and Lisa (and spouses of Brian and Andy).

Justin stops for a quick photo at the halfway point.  He happily runs off with little voices shouting "Run, Papa, Run!".  As he disappears into the distance Stacey returns to the car to find the doors locked and the key sitting silently on the front seat (this is New Hampshire, after all, and leaving keys in the car is quite common...locking the car is not).  Enter Friend #1 (Lisa) from Stage Left.  She graciously offers to drive her car back to Stacey's house to get the spare key and leaves her raincoat as a light rain begins to fall (luckily this is a local race and we are only about 20 minutes from home).  Enter Friend #2 (Mariah) who, with her nearly 3 year old son and 8 month pregnant self, assist Stacey in keeping all the kids happy, fed, and off the race course.  We all reconvene and continue on our cheering mission!

Here is Justin just after crossing the finish line.  He must look hungry -- Senja and Harrison (Brian and Mariah's son) offer him snacks.
Yup, he's still standing after all that way.  Cirrus was a grand little spectator, spending much of the race snuggled in and sleeping.

Cirrus Week 11 (Apr 28 - May 4)

Cirrus continues to experiment with his hands and sometimes successfully sucking his thumb.  Here he has found his thumb, although his head appears to be on crooked.  Ah, one thing at a time!

Cirrus is thrilled to receive some quality time from his big sister.  Senja is becoming more interested in Cirrus and is quite pleased when she hands him things and he holds them for a few seconds.  "Cirrus holding the butterfly," she exclaims cheerfully..

Other events of the week included Stacey running her first race since Cirrus's birth, a local 5K.  We also made a trip over to Tuckaway Farm to visit Grandma, Grandpa, Lao Ga Ga (just before her 95th birthday!), aunts, uncles, and cousins.  Senja and Cadel hone their equestrian skills with help from Grandpa..
